Fifty years ago Fontvieille was only a narrow strip of sand, where the Rock fell steeply into the sea. The birth of a new district of Monaco has been linked to the economic development of the Principality. During the development of these new lands (17 hectares reclaimed from the sea) a part was dedicated to the creation of a marina. Located at the foot of the Rock of Monaco in its eastern part, the port of Fontvieille is certainly one of the best sheltered in the region since it is protected from the easterly winds by the Rock and from the south and west swell by the large dyke which ensures the protection of the entire Fontvieille district.

Right in the heart of the residential district of Fontvieille, the marina is a real marina offering all the conveniences to visiting yachtsmen and permanent visitors alike. This haven of peace can accommodate up to 275 boats with a maximum draft of 3 meters. Boaters have at their disposal all the services necessary for the proper functioning of a marina: water, electricity at each berth as well as toilets and showers. Near the port there is also a shopping center, supermarkets, the Monaco heliport and the Louis II stadium sports complex.

The numerous restaurants bordering the lake as well as the surrounding shops make the port of Fontvieille a real place of life where it is good to stroll in all seasons.
