Dénia is a very large port with a lot of fishing, ferry and yachting traffic. It is very sheltered and can be entered safely even in bad weather, as although the water is quite shallow in the northern sector, the channel is well buoyed. There are 501 small public berths (only up to 8m) in the NW sec- tor and also two yacht harbours: Marina de Dénia and Club Náutico de Dénia. It is also possible to anchor in the shallows of the commercial port, out of the way of traffic. There are several interesting museums in the town, including a toy museum, and the castle dating back to Roman times is well Worth a visit. Situated just 60 miles from lbiza, Dènia makes a perfect jump-off point for cruising to the Balearic Islands.
